February - March
Excellent Trophy Largemouth &
Smallmouth Fishing - Suspending Rogues are my bait of choice.
This is an under rated time of year with very little fishing pressure.
3 1/2 - 5lb. Smallmouth and 5 - 7 lb. Largemouth are common.
March - April
Kentucky Lake's Famous Crappie Fishing
- 2 lb. crappie are common. I primarily fish stakebeds.
Casting or vertical fishing jigs and minnows in the famous "Blood River"
April
Bass Fishing Pre Spawn - Flipping and
pitching, crankbaits on primary and secondary ledges in bays.
Spinnerbaits on wood. These are all techniques for this excellent time of
year.
May - June
Bass Fishing Spawn and Post Spawn -
Topwater, rattletraps, flipping, and crankbaiting. The post spawn
crankbait bite on Kentucky Lake is legendary.
June - July - August
White Bass on Main Lake, Points,
Ledges, and Flats - This is a fast action, excellent eating fish and kids
love it. This is also a popular time of year for corporate business
trips. Largemouth fishing is with worms and lizards, Texas rigged, or
Carolina and jigs and crankbaits on mainlake drops, humps points, and
ledges. Smallmouth fishing is primarily tubes and chompers in 15 - 25 ft.
of water.
September - October - November
Largemouth & Smallmouth Found
Schooling - Topwater action can be rated from awesome to fantastic.
Burning spinnerbaits for smallmouth and sight fishing with rattletraps is
also very productive.
October - November
Fall Crappie Fishing - Casting jigs to
submerged stakebeds is my preferred method. For windy conditions, fishing
vertical with jigs and minnows. As with bass fishing, you can really find
crappie schooled up this time of year. |
